Awards

(Sponsored by Tansley Parish Council. Report by Phil Spencer)

Despite the challenging weather conditions, the garden competition was well supported and provided an opportunity for gardeners in the village to gain recognition for their hard work. With entries across all categories – large gardens, small gardens and hanging baskets/tubs/planters the judges had a very busy Wednesday evening. The competition was judged by Mr Jeff Bates (East Midlands in Bloom) who was accompanied by Tansley Parish Councillors Brian Taylor, Barry Hopkinson and Steve Greenhough.

After much consideration the following winners were agreed:

Best Hanging Basket, Tub or Planter R & C Camm Church Street
Best Small Garden C Wilks Riber View Close
Best Large Garden R & C Camm Church Street

Cllr. Brian Taylor commented that “The standard and variety of gardens was exceptional and made judging extremely difficult.”

The awards were presented by Revd. Richard Reade at Tansley Village Show on 9th July in Tansley Village Hall.
