Holy Trinity Church

Holy Trinity Church opened in 1840. Before then Tansley formed part of the Parish of Crich. The people of the village found it ‘extremely inconvenient to attend church in Crich’ and so they raised money to build a chapel. In 1844 a Chapelry District was formed. Later, in 1865 a new Parish of Tansley with its own Rector was established.

The church was built from local gritstone. The North aisle, seen on the left-hand side of the picture, was added in 1870.

The church's interior is warm, well-lit, light and airy - a very welcoming place. Anyone can call in for tea or coffee, biscuits and cake on a Wednesday morning at 10.15.
