The Old Dance School, a dynamic, young, folk-oriented band, is playing in Tansley Village Hall on 25th February. Seating will be cabaret style around candle-lit tables, with real-ale, wine and soft drinks on sale before and after the show and during the interval. The seven members of the band, three women and four men, write all their own material and have just released their third album, called Chasing The Light. Bob Harris from Radio 2 describes them as "wonderful, an absolute gem". The Scotsman says they have "classical quality, jazz imagination, folk sensibility, rock/roots energy and are masterful”. "Truly exciting, awe inspiring music from a band who can only be heading for the top floor" is how Songlines describes them.

Advance tickets can be ordered priced £10 (£12 on the door) on 01629 584243 or 07748 545287 or by email. For in-depth information about the band, including music samples, photos and videos, see here. Their web site includes this excellent video featuring all members of the band and their new album.

Friends of Tansley School - Rags To Riches - Collection Friday 9th March

Tansley School will again be collecting clothes, fabric, handbags, blankets, sheets, soft toys and paired shoes to raise money. Good quality items get sold on and spoiled items get shredded for stuffing. The school receives income per tonne. Donations can be dropped off in the Village Hall car park between 8.30am and 11.30am. If you have nowhere to store items, please drop them off at 56 Riber View Close or phone Wendy (01629 580762) to come and collect. This is a great way to recycle those odd items of material. Thank you for supporting the school.
