In the top right hand quarter of the photograph can be seen May Briddon’s shop at the bottom of Alders Lane, with the Nottingham Road Methodist Chapel just behind. The chapel has been demolished for many years and two bungalows now occupy the site. The stone from the chapel was used for the bungalows and one carries the name “Chapelstones”. The old chapel gate was retained and still acts as an entrance to the garden of the bungalow.
