Tansley, in The Peak District, is a good centre for walking and exploring holidays, being convenient for the Peak District National Park, the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site and famous country houses and estates. There are many interesting and exciting attractions to visit close to the village. These include Peak Rail, Wingfield Manor, Crich Tramway Village, Carsington Water, Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Kedleston Hall. Fine walks abound both from Tansley and within a few miles radius. The beautiful, historic valley of Lumsdale is just a 15 minute walk away.

Tansley has a local bus service to Matlock and Alfreton. Matlock has direct connections by bus and train to local villages, to towns such as Bakewell, Buxton, Chesterfield and Wirksworth and to the cities of Derby, Nottingham, Manchester, Sheffield and London. Tansley is within a reasonable distance of East Midlands, Manchester and Sheffield Airports.
