WHO USES TANSLEY VILLAGE
HALL? |
|
Tansley Village Hall was the setting for
a recently-filmed slot in How to Look Good
Naked, Channel 4's popular makeover programme
presented by fashion guru Gok Wan and produced by
Maverick TV.
The hall also provides a venue for
theatrical performances by Chatsworth Players, High Tor
Players, Tansley Players and Tangere Arts. It hosts the
village pantomime and primary school plays and provides
a venue for parents' meetings.
Tansley Village Hall is also a venue for
Live &
Local, a not-for-profit arts
organisation working with voluntary groups across
Derbyshire, Warwickshire and Staffordshire.
It is also a great place for private
parties and receptions - adults' and children's birthday
parties, christenings, wedding and funeral
receptions.
Tansley Village Hall is the hub of
village life and a place where a lot of people have a
lot of fun. There have been barn dances, salsa classes,
folk-dancing, belly-dancing and even a medieval banquet
complete with hog roast!
The hall is home to a variety of
activities such as tai chi, pilates, chair-based
exercise, whist drives, and bingo. It is also used by
Tansley's Garden & Countryside Club, Film Club,
Ladies Group, and Tuesday Club.
It is an ideal location for fundraising
events such as table-top sales, cream teas, auctions and
quiz nights.
It is used for church events such as the
harvest supper and by the local council for public
meetings.

HOW TO LOOK GOOD
NAKED - IN TANSLEY VILLAGE HALL!
|
|
An
episode of How to
Look Good Naked featuring Tansley Village Hall was
shown on Channel 4 on Monday 23rd November 2009.
Television
production company Maverick spent Friday July 17th
inside and outside Tansley Village Hall filming the
feature slot. Production
staff were joined by some 50 women for the filming,
which had as its central theme beauty and fashion since
the 1940s. The Village Hall was set out in a period
style - wooden chairs and trestle tables, no electric
clock, plastic or aluminium.
The
TV series, presented by fashion guru Gok Wan, shows
women how to look great with their clothes on or off no
matter what their body shape. Gok, who once weighed 21
stone himself, knows what it’s like to be self-conscious
about body

Portable Planetarium comes to
Tansley! |
|
On Wednesday morning, 16th June 2010,
all the children at Tansley Primary School enjoyed an
educational show in a portable planetarium within
Tansley Village Hall.
The different year groups attended
separate shows tailored specifically for their
age-range.
Head Teacher Tracey Holmes said "It was
a wonderful experience that inspired the children in
learning about astronomy and the universe as part of the
school's Science Week."
The inflatable Super-Dome planetarium
was supplied, set-up and operated by Astrodome. One of
the presenters will return to the school to answer more
of the children's
questions. |
