Could you organise a fundraising
event? We need as many people as possible to get
involved in the village hall fundraising project.
If you have a passion, a skill,
a talent or an expertise, then please consider
whether you are able to initiate or run an
activity or an event yourself. We can help you
publicise it.
If you can't organise a project
yourself, you could still help others with their
projects.
There have been some very
successful fundraising events in the hall
recently, including a medieval banquet and a quiz
night. These events would never have taken
place without the dedication of volunteers.
Members of the village hall
committee, themselves volunteers, invite others to
join them in raising money for this valuable
community facility.
Our aim is to hold at least one
major event a month, but we shall need your help
if we are to achieve this goal.
If you have an idea or wish to
help in any way, please
phone Chris Knightley on

THANKS EDDIE FOR THE
WILDLIFE SCULPTURE PRESENTATION
|
|

|
|
Eddie with sketchbook and
sculptures |
|
Thank you to Riber
resident Eddie Hallam who made a very
interesting presentation about wildlife
sculpture in aid of village hall
funds.
Turnout for the
presentation on 27th November was small, but
Eddie's talk and display were greatly
appreciated by those present. The talk was full
of humour and anecdotes which kept the audience
thoroughly engaged, and the slides of St Kilda
were fascinating. It was interesting to see a
selection of Eddie's sculptures (birds and
an otter) and learn how they are
made.
A total of £36 was
raised for the Village Hall Restoration
Fund.
Thank you to Jean
Peters for providing the
refreshments.

SANTA VISITS
TANSLEY!
Donations collected
totalled £223
photos and report by Chris
Knightley |
 |
|
Much
to the delight of local children,
Santa visited Tansley on his sleigh on
the evening of Tuesday 22nd
December. The village was covered in a
blanket of snow - the perfect weather conditions
for Santa and his four reindeer!
The sleigh set off at
around 6pm, starting in Thatchers Lane. It wended
its way down Alders Lane, east along Nottingham
Road and up into Thatchers Croft, where it was
greeted by families with young children. Santa's
helpers handed out sweets to the children while
kind folk dropped coins into collection buckets.
Holly Lane and Ashley
Close were next to resound to the loud music and
the welcoming calls from the master of ceremonies
to come out to see Santa. The procession then went
up Church Street, in and out of Oak Tree Gardens
(employing one of several deft three-point turns
along the route), down past the village green and
on round to Riber View Close. Once again many
children came out, some even in dressing gowns to
see Santa and his super sleigh.
The sweet baskets were
replenished several times as the sleigh made its
way along The Knoll (well Santa comes from the
North Knoll doesn't he?) and steeply up to the
finishing post outside The Gate.
The organisers seemed
pleased with the response, particularly the
interest from the children. Sarah and Neil Green,
together with friends and family from Peak Vale
Tractor Pulling Club and local sponsors, made a
brilliant job of Santa's sleigh and reindeer and
put on a great show for the village.
Donations collected
during Santa's visit totalled £223, to be
shared between Tansley
Primary School and the Village
Hall.
