The Tuesday Club is mainly for
persons over the age of 60, though the club also
welcomes others such as widows or widowers in
need of companionship. Members must live in
Tansley. Members of the club meet
every fortnight to socialise and chat. Once a
month an outing is arranged, usually with a lunch
or tea included. At the meetings held in the
Tansley Village Hall there are speakers, slide
shows, demonstrations, quizzes, musical
afternoons, etc. See the programme of events
below.
In addition to all this, members
of the Tuesday Club also enjoy a five or six- day
holiday to the seaside every year to a first class
hotel, usually with evening
entertainment. "Anyone
interested in joining the club would be most
welcome. We are a very friendly group," says
Marjorie, who runs the club along with
Ruby.
Members are asked to help
occasionally with the washing and drying of the
tea cups at the meetings in the village hall. Tea
hostesses are asked to donate a raffle prize on
their rota day, and other members to donate one at
a meeting during the year.

Forty members and friends of the Tuesday
Club have just arrived back after spending five days at
the Fairhaven Hotel in Weymouth, Dorset.
Tuesday Club chairman Marjorie says "We
have had a lovely time and have been to Dorchester, Lyme
Regis, West Bay near Bridport, Portland Bill and
have seen many of the beautiful villages in Dorset. We
were entertained every night in the Hotel after we had
had a game of bingo, many of our group winning excellent
prizes at the bingo. Everyone joined in the
dancing and singing late into the evening and agreed
they had had a wonderful holiday."

On 28th June 2011 the Tuesday Club went
on a mystery drive around some of the villages in Nottinghamshire and along the Lime Tree

weather was perfect, not too hot, the scenery was
beautiful, we have never seen so many red poppies in the
