107/06 CHAIRMAN’S REPORT (circulated with the agenda)
The chairman has attended two meetings at the request of the Community Transport Group, as the bus service has been discontinued due to lack of customers. There are various services available including Dial A Ride which runs to Alfreton. The bus can be hired by community groups at low cost. In order to stimulate interest the Community Transport will be consulting on needs within the parish. One possible use would be to run the bus on Fete Day (17 June 2006) to avoid the use of cars. However, the application form runs to 9 pages and 30 questions.
Fete Field
The Parish Council have had considerable difficulty with the VAT claim which has still not been paid, the claim went in beginning of October, and after numerous questions, correspondence and phone calls, advice has been sought with DCC. DCC has met with the clerk and the chair and spoken directly to the VAT people and hopefully after the letter last Friday we should soon be reimbursed.
The clerk reported that a letter had been received from HM Customs and Revenue informing that the V.A.T. would be reimbursed.
Cllr Johnson raised the matter of the protection grilles on the lights on the Fete Field and that they seem to be very obtrusive.
RESOLVED:
Not to complete the application for the community bus to attend the Fete Day (17 June).
To examine the protection on the lights with a view to resolving the matter.
108/06 EAST MIDLANDS IN BLOOM
The Seminar for EMIB is to be held on February 23 at Chesterfield, and a discussion was held regarding the involvement in EMIB and the garden competition, Cllr Spink has carried out this duty for the past few years and he does not wish to continue.
RESOLVED:
That Cllr Taylor would attend the seminar and would also take over the Parish Council involvement in EMIB and also the garden competitions.
